Life Story for James Roy Hines Jr.

Mr. James Roy Hines, Jr., age 86, a resident of Dothan (formerly of Auburn & New York City) passed away early Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Flowers Hospital.

A family memorial service will be held in the Standing Rock Methodist Cemetery in Chambers County at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dothan Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Al. 36302 or to one’s favorite charity.

Mr. Hines was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on October 14, 1928 the son of James Roy Hines and Mildred Malissa Carter Hines.

Mr. Hines graduated from Huntsville High School and attended Murray State and Julliard. He was an accomplished singer in the entertainment business, he lived and performed in New York City for most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Hines was a U.S. Army veteran and was Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters & 4 brothers-in-law, Zona Hines Parrish (W.T.), twin sister, Ann Hines Lawley (Jack), Gwenda Hines Tickle (Homer McCullough); J.W. Green and a favorite aunt Esther Carter (Grady) Fuller and a nephew, Homer McCullough Tickle, Jr.

Survivors include: sister, Jean Hines Green, Huntsville; several nieces and nephews including Dothan relatives, Rhone Parrish (Susan), Malissa Williams (Ted), LaNelle Smith (Joe), Clay Parrish (Allyson); special friends Cora Moulton and Peggy Cole.
