Life Story for Louverne Scott Blackmon

Mrs. Louverne Scott Blackmon, age 77, a resident of Malvern, died early Sunday April 9, 2017 at Flowers Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday April 11, 2017 at the Malvern Baptist Church with Reverend Hosea Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday April 10, 2017 at the Glover Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Blackmon was born on March 30, 1940 in Houston County the daughter of William Jesse Scott and Ella Pitts Scott. She was retired as a seamstress with Hedstrom. Mrs. Blackmon was a member of Malvern Baptist Church and was the secretary of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 131 in Dothan. She loved her family very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Annie Lee Hall, Nancy Summers and Mary Brown; 5 brothers, Johnny Scott, Willie Scott, Edward Scott, James Scott and Ronnie Scott.

Survivors include: husband of 59 years, Lunie Blackmon, Malvern; daughter, Peggy Sawyer, Malvern; son, Steven Wayne Blackmon (Angie), Slocomb; 3 sisters, Nina Faye Weeks, Abbeville; Bonnie Sykes, Dothan; Diane Carver (Rickey), Enterprise; 2 brothers, William Scott, Dothan; Paul Scott (Patricia), Dothan; 7 grandchildren, Bryan Sawyer (Chandra), Jessica Parker (Tim), Casey Lamar Beck (Kayln), Kimberly Danielle Blackmon (Trey), Steven Wayne Blackmon (Ariel), Samantha Sizemore and Jacob Tyler; 4 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Valverde, Bryce Sawyer, Jayden Valverde, and Aiden Alexander Atkinson.
