Obituary for Betty Lee Bauer

Betty Lee Fitzhugh Bauer, a resident of Dothan, passed away, Saturday, May 9, 2020. She was 91.

Mrs. Bauer was born February 8, 1929 in Washington, D.C. to Robert and Louise Fitzhugh, Jr. and was a graduate of McKinley High School in Washington, D.C. She later attended Washington School for Secretaries and was employed as a clerk stenographer in the executive office of the Secretary of Navy prior to moving to Dothan in 1969. Betty was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club, Gladiola Garden Club and the UDC. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Anglican Church in Dothan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Bertram Bauer; a step-brother, Mason Augst; a step-sister, Helen Augst Martin; and Minnie Fitzhugh.

Survivors include four children: Karen Lynn Doswell (Samuel) of Niceville, FL, William Fitzhugh Bauer (Barbara) of Albertville, AL, Michelle Bauer MacKenzie (Bruce) of Panama City, FL and Lisa Bauer Edmunds (Robert) of Fayetteville, AR; ten grandchildren: Kristin Mullins, Rebeca Lake, Anna Bozeman, Christopher Doswell, Bill Bauer, Cindy Darby, Robert Sauer, Benjamin Sauer, Wes Edmunds, and Meagan Tuttle; five great-grandchildren: Allie Bauer, Aubrey Bauer, Hazel Edmunds, Shiloh Edmunds and Oscar Bozeman.

The family would like to sincerely thank the following for their loving care of Betty: Dayspring Hospice, especially Tamara, Malekae and Lynn, and her other special caregivers LaShanda and Melba during her time at home.
