Obituary for Cathryn Wise (Ryals)

Mrs. Cathryn Ryals Wise, a resident of Texasville, Alabama passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula. She was 94 years old.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Clayton with Pastor Robbie Daniels officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted.

Cathryn was born September 15, 1928, in Barbour County, Alabama to the late Ben Z. and Nellie Cansas Pitts Ryals. She was employed by Fieldcrest Mill in Columbus, Georgia and enjoyed gardening, crafting, quilting, and crocheting. She was an avid Alabama fan and was a past president of the Texasville Homemakers Club. Cathryn loved her family and friends dearly but most of all she loved the Lord and was a member of Anderson Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Roy Ryals, Coy Ryals, Floyd Ryals, Clyde Ryals and Wayne Ryals; five sisters, Flora Ryals, Ozie Fralish, Evie Deal, Mary Dean Deal, and Rose Alexander.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 75 years, Edward Lanier Wise; three sons, Jeff Wise (Kay) of Birmingham, Alabama, Steve Wise (Eloise) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Ken Wise (Becky) of Birmingham, Alabama; sister, Sarah Ryals Frey of Columbus, Georgia; three grandchildren, David Wise (Megan), Katy Wise Huidekoper (Dr. John), and Paul Wise; four great-grandchildren, William Wise, Daniel Wise, Miles Huidekoper, Virginia Huidekoper and several nieces and nephews.

Asked to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Wise, Ken Wise, David Wise, Paul Wise, Dennis Ryals, and Ron Ryals.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Huidekoper, Tom Parent-Lew, Ray Anderson, and Tim Ryals.
