Obituary for Charles Van Odom
Charles Van Odom, age 70, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Troy West officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Angel House, PO Box 7133, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
Charles was born February 27, 1953, in Dothan to the late C.H. and Edna Whitehurst Odom. He is a 1972 graduate of Dothan High School and attended Troy State University where he played football. Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and worked with Dothan Police Department and Houston County Sheriffs Office. He retired as an investigator with the Alabama Attorney General in 2005. Charles was a member of the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Ryan Odom (LeAnn) of Dothan, Chad Sheffer (Marissa) of St. Augustine, Florida; daughter, Adrienne Smith of Dothan; brother, Paul Odom of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; sisters, Delilah Deese (Tony) of Dothan, Paula Jackson (Franky) of Skipperville; grandchildren, Zach Sheffer, Kendall Sheffer, Ryleigh Smith, Tyler Smith, Caroline Odom, Ella Odom, Henry Odom.
The Houston County Sheriffs Office honor guard will serve as pallbearers.
