Collene Pelz, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday night, August 20, 2021, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 78.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Darryl Bates officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.

Mrs. Pelz was born October 24, 1942 in Rehobeth to Collis and Ida Biggers Helms and was a graduate of Rehobeth High School. After her marriage to Kenneth Pelz, she lived in Texas, Missouri and Washington during his military career. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed working with them.

Mrs. Pelz is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Larry “Buddy” Helms.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth E. Pelz of Dothan; two daughters, Mary Ann Blakey (Chris) of Madrid and Margaret Ivey (Mark) of Cowarts; two grandchildren, Julianna Ivey and Dalton Ivey; two nephews, Andy Helms and Brian Helms.
