Obituary for Doris Butler (Whittington)

Mrs. Doris Butler, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at her residence with her family surrounding her. She was 75.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy West officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 12:45 Sunday at the funeral home prior to service time.

Graveside services will be held later on Sunday at Holly Hills Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida, with Glover Funeral Home Directing.

Flowers are being accepted or contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P O Box 1045, Dothan, Alabama, 36302.

Mrs. Butler was born December 11, 1946 in Cottondale, Florida to William Earl and Iris Capshaw Whittington and lived the early years of her life in Port St. Joe, Florida. She later moved to Dothan where she lived most all of her adult life. Doris was a cosmetologist for over 40 years working at a variety of places including Trend Setters, Kutt above, Jeffery’s and Total Look. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Samuel Darrell Butler and a sister, Eva Mae “Cookie” Burch.

She is survived by a son, Kevin Butler of Brunswick, GA; two daughters, Stacey Hobbs (Andy) of Rehobeth and Darlene Butler-Little (Robert) of Panama City Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Paige Hobbs (Kolten Zachary), Nicholas Little (Neshia), Samantha Little; others that called her “MiMi”, Vanessa Montes, Myah Singleton, Bryan Lawyer and many others; a great-grandchild, Mia Zachary; a sister, Mary Whittington of Dothan; a brother, William Whittington, Jr. of Panama City, Florida; two nieces, Amanda Bouzemann (Mat) and Angel Silva (John); several great nieces and nephews and best friend of over 45 years, Daphne Sherman.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Little, Nicholas Little, Mat Bouzemann, Louis Dyer and Adam Joseph.
