Obituary for Eugene “Gene” Hall

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Hall, a resident of Dothan, passed away early Monday morning, April 4, 2022 at his residence. He was 94.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Memphis Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Glenn and Hospice Chaplain Allen Monarch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mr. Hall was born August 25, 1927 in Houston County to Grady and Lorena Lewis Hall and grew up in Echo. In 1948, he moved to Dothan and was employed with Dothan Hosiery Mill for several years. At the age of 21, he began a lifelong career in farming which lasted over 70 years. For the past 35 years he was also a valued employee of Shute’s Pecan Company during the pecan season. Mr. Hall loved planting and farming and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was a longtime member of Memphis Baptist Church.

Mr. Hall is predeceased by his parents, a daughter and son-in-law, Merita and Danny Barefoot and several sisters and brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Carolyn Hall of Dothan; a daughter, Judy Holland (Howard) of Headland; four grandchildren, Marcie (Haston) Jenkins, Heather (Mark) Wilcox, Holli (Clay) Grace, Dan (Ashley) Barefoot; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Nadine Thames; two brothers, Damon (Debi) Hall and Coylee Hall; several sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Active pallbearers will be Dan Barefoot, Haston Jenkins, Mark Wilcox, Paxton Jenkins, Sheldon Grace, Clay Grace and Carey Solomon.
