Obituary for Frank Robert Hoover

Frank Robert Hoover, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at his residence. He was 78.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy West officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Black Community Cemetery in Black, Alabama with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:45 until 1:45 on Saturday prior to service time.

Frank Hoover was born on May 12, 1944 in Manitowoc, WI to the late Robert J. and Helen (Haefke) Hoover. He was a graduate of Utah State University and Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University. Frank served over 22 years combined in the US Air Force and US Army, serving multiple tours in numerous countries, as well as in Vietnam working with the Montagnards and as a Scout Pilot flying the OH-6 helicopter with the F Troop 8th Cavalry at the Marbles AAF near Danang and at Lassiter AAF near Saigon. After retiring from the military, Frank worked various jobs in middle Tennessee before moving to Sebastian, FL where he ended his working career as the Director of Emergency Services for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Upon his wife’s retirement, they relocated to the Dothan, AL area near where they first met and married after a quick courtship. Frank was very devoted to his wife of 41 years, his children, and especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Ryan Abbott.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Susan (Jones) Hoover; children Robert Hill (Tracy) and Allisen Giordano (Scott Brown); grandchildren Beck, Catherine, Taylor, and Brady; siblings Chuck Hoover (Karen), Tuji Arnold, and Nancy Abbott; in addition to a host of loved nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
