Lafayette was born February 27, 1948 in Dothan to Wayne Buster and Ouida Rice Dickerson and was a lifelong resident of Ashford. He served his country in the Army National Guard. In earlier years, Lafayette enjoyed coon hunting. He loved fishing and was an avid Alabama football fan. Lafayette was a member of Ashford 1st Assembly of God Church.

Lafayette began his career as a barber 53 years ago. He spent 49 years with Woodland Sebring and was the owner and operator at the time of his death. “Laffy” as his customers called him, was one of the best in the business. Not only was he the barber for many, he was known to be quite the entertainer. A trip to Woodland Sebring ensured you of a good hair cut and many laughs from his stories that might include Alabama football, fishing or politics. He encouraged a generation of barbers that their careers were more than professions - they were friends to their customers. Many will miss having such a “sport” to keep them well groomed.

Lafayette is predeceased by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter Tona Williams; granddaughter, Mia Williams; a brother, Wayne Dickerson (Lydia); a special friend, Linda Sanders; a close friend, Gail Dozier; very close cousin, Billy Gene Dickerson (Patricia); a nephew, Shannon Dickerson (Nicole); a great niece and a great nephew, Ellie and Alex Dickerson.

Pallbearers will be Billy Cox, Keith Givens, Billy Gene Dickerson, Lendon Scott, Danny Nowell, and Randy Underwood.

Brad Tew will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
