Obituary for Jason Earl Kirkland

Jason Earl Kirkland, a resident of Cottonwood, died Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:45 until 1:45 on Tuesday prior to service time.

Flowers are being accepted or contributions may be made to the April Kirkland Scholarship Fund, c/o Gail Adams, 103 Lindsey Lane, Dothan, Alabama, 36305.

Jason was born July 8, 1977 in Dothan, Alabama to Ronald Earl Kirkland and Linda Gail Adams and and lived all of his life in Houston County. He was a 1995 graduate of Cottonwood High School and later received his associate degree in Entomology from the University of Florida. He was employed with Terminix for 22 years, most recently as training manager. Jason loved Auburn football, hunting and basketball. He also enjoyed drawing and woodworking. Most of all he loved spending time with his children. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dothan.

He is predeceased by his sister, April Kirkland, stepfather, Grady Adams and maternal grandfather, Pete Trawick and paternal grandfather, Otis Kirkland.

Survivors include his mother, Gail Adams of Dothan; his father, Ronald Kirkland of Cottonwood; a son, Logan Kirkland of Madrid; a daughter, Annaleigh Kirkland of Madrid; the mother of his children, Aimee Whitehead Kirkland of Madrid; a step-brother, Morris Adams of Cottonwood;maternal grandmother, Nell Trawick of Dothan; paternal grandmother, Dora Kirkland of Cottonwood.

Active pallbearers will be: Jamie Wynn, John Godwin, James Carroll, Scott Turner, Ritchie Byrd and Brad Whitehead.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Terminix.
