Obituary for Jasper Carey Hammond
Mr. Jasper Carey Hammond, a resident of Eufaula, Alabama passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at his residence. He was 87 years old.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Eufaula with Reverend Jeff Hines officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted.
Jasper was born November 24, 1935, in Georgetown, Georgia to the late Daniel Carey Hammond and Christine Anderson Hammond. He worked as a Market Manager for Winn Dixie and a Production Manager for Aladan until his retirement. Mr. Jasper was a great handyman and worked very hard building his own home. He was a great cook and enjoyed time working in his vegetable garden. Most of all he loved his family and his cat, Nellie. He was a member of Cross Baptist Church in Eufaula.
Jasper is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne Anderson Hammond, and sister, Erna Diane Hammond.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 65 years, Melba Phillips Hammond; two daughters, Sherry Hammond Sellers (Jack) of Eufaula and Kristy Hammond Saylor (Bryan) of Eufaula; two grandchildren, Kirbee Vickers, and Jim Vickers (Katie Walden); one great-grandchild, Keylee Nolin and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Raeleigh Perry with Gentiva Hospice for her excellent care.
