Obituary for Jimmy Wayne Riley

Jimmy Wayne Riley, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Southeast Health. He was 73.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday prior to service time.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (EST) November 2, 2021 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Jimmy Riley, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Mr. Riley was born August 4, 1948 in Dale County, Alabama to Harold Thomas and Flowers Woodham Smith and attended Dothan High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a truck driver and was employed with Dunbarton for several years and later with Cutler Eggs prior to his retirement. He loved to fish and enjoyed working in his woodshop. He was an Alabama football fan, Roll Tide! Mr. Riley was a member of Grandview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Lynn S. Riley of Cowarts; a daughter, Tracie Gulledge (Keith) of Enterprise; two grandchildren, Layne Gulledge (Katie) and Lynzi Reimer (Chris); a great-grandson, Theo Reimer; a sister, Rhonda McSween (Bobby) of Dothan; a brother, Gene Riley (Joyce) of Dothan; several nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
