Obituary for Karla Sue Dykes (Chenoweth)

In Loving Memory of Karla Sue Chenoweth Dykes.

Karla Sue Chenoweth Dykes, age 68, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 17, 1955, in Artesia, California, to Maude Ella Adair and Earl Richard Chenoweth, Karla was a woman of strength and resilience.

Karla lived a life defined by her dedication to her family and her unwavering love. She was a devoted wife to Milton Dykes Jr. for 49 years, a loving mother to her son Thomas Edward Chenoweth Dykes, and her daughters Suzanne Millenbaugh (married to Tom) and Becky Walker (married to Mike). Karla adored her grandchildren, Makayla Sweeting, Katie Walker Sirmans (Alex), Justin Walker (Hillary), Lexie Millenbaugh, and Devin Millenbaugh, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Walker, Caroline Walker, and Copeland Walker and her two cherished pups, Charlie and Henry.

Karla was also a beloved sister to her siblings. She is survived by her sisters Sandra Lea Webb and Darla Lou Evans, and her brother Lyle Dale Chenoweth. She is preceded in death by her sisters Shelia Marlene Jones, Reba Beatrice Battaglia, Nancy Earlene Moore, and Kay Beverly Chenoweth, and her brothers Steven Earl Chenoweth.

Karla's passion for cooking brought joy to those around her, as she delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones. She also found solace and fulfillment in her love for sewing, creating beautiful garments, and cherished keepsakes.

Karla's memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula, Alabama at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Doss officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Karla’s honor to the Barbour County Humane Society- 99 Gilchrest Road Clayton, Alabama 36016.

Karla's light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace.
