Lewis was born on July 28, 1948 in Mainz, Germany and grew up in North Carolina. He was a graduate of High Point Central High School and later attended the University of North Carolina. He resided in Mobile, Florida, and Montgomery before moving to Dothan 25 years ago.

Lewis was employed for several years as a general manager for several comcast cable systems in the southeast. He later worked at Cummings Sign Company for several years prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Bucks Golf Group at the Dothan Country Club.

Lewis was a natural comedian and could always make you laugh. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and uncle and will be dearly missed. Prior to his illness, he was active as an usher in the Episcopal Church and a breakfast morning cook where he entertained the group.

Lewis is predeceased by his father, Buddy King and his brother, Tony King.

Survivors include his wife, Kathi King of Dothan; his mother, Dixie Lutz King of Mobile; a son, Gabe King (Katrina) of Dothan; three grandchildren, Laila, Levi and Madison; cousins, Steve Seward of Spanish Fort and Ingrid Emminger of Fairhope.

The family would like to thank Dr. Roland Spedale, Dr. Mark Byard, Dr. Hejal Patel, Dr. Scott McAllister and his nursing staff and Dr. Tom Brown for their loving care of Lewis. Our appreciation also goes out to the staff of Covenant Care Hospice. And, especially the nursing staff on the 4th and 6th floors of Flowers Hospital for their compassion and care over the last nine years.
