Obituary for Magdalene Snowdon (Griffin)

Mrs. Magdalene Griffin Snowdon (Maggie), a resident of Eufaula, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. She was 77 years old.

A memorial visitation will be held at Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula, Alabama on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm CST.

Mary Magdalene Griffin was born on August 21, 1945, in Nash County, North Carolina. The daughter of the late Carl Lee Griffin and Lillian Brantley Griffin. She graduated from Middlesex High School in 1963, and then attended Atlantic Christian College where she earned a Bachelors in Physical Education. She later attended Troy University where she obtained a Masters in Physical Education, and then Auburn University where she earned a Masters in Media Science. Maggie spent her career and countless volunteer hours as a teacher and media specialist. She retired from Abbeville High School in 2010. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Eufaula where she served as the youth activities director for many years.

Her hobbies growing up included playing basketball, volleyball, golf, and pageants. Later in life her hobbies included gardening, reading, cooking, bargain shopping, and attending the many sports activities of her three beloved grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Griffin, and sister Barbara Rogerson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Richard Cook Snowdon, Eufaula; three daughters, Shawn Sierra Snowdon, Eufaula; Shannon Snowdon Shepard (Dane), Leesburg, GA; Sabrina Snowdon de Jong, Dothan, AL. three grandchildren, Nate, Kinley, and Drake Shepard all of Leesburg, GA. Two brothers William Griffin (Janice), and Jimmy Griffin of Middlesex, NC. One sister, Rachel Cozart (Edward) of Bailey, NC. Two nephews and a niece also survive.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Barbour County/Eufaula Affiliate.
