Obituary for Theresa C. Lowry

On Monday, October 25, 2021, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Theresa Caraway Lowry, left this world and entered eternal peace with God, the Father, and Christ Jesus, the Son, at the age of 83. She is a life-long resident of Dothan and member of Grandview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the organ for more than 40 years. Over the years she worked as a secretary, a music teacher, a bookkeeper/accountant, and a piano teacher. And during “retirement”, she was a volunteer at the Southeast Alabama Baptist Ministry Center.

We will celebrate her life and homegoing at 11:00am on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Grandview Baptist Church with Rev Jeff Ross and Rev Mike Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45am at the church prior to service time on Friday.

Theresa was born on August 22, 1938 in Houston County, AL to George and Lenora Caraway. Mrs. Lenora Caraway went to be with the Lord in 1946 after a battle with cancer and Mr. Caraway married Berlon Todd, who was a dedicated mother to Theresa and brother, George, until her death in 2001. After graduating from Dothan High School in 1956, Theresa attended Tennessee Temple College where she met and married her husband of 50 years, Walter N. Lowry, Jr.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter N. Lowry, Jr., a son Jeffrey N. Lowry and a special cousin, Shirley Phares.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Watts of Dothan, AL and Alena Hammond of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Joshua (Sabbah) Rusin, Paul Davis (Chisato) Watts, Samuel Watts, Joseph Watts, Elizabeth Hammond, Abby Hammond, Katherine Hammond, Jeffrey (Julie) Lowry and Stephanie Lowry; brother, George E. Caraway; nieces, Tasha and Marsha Caraway and nephew Todd Caraway; and many special cousins

Pallbearers will be her son-in-law, Paul Watts; grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Jeffrey Lowry, Paul Davis Watts, Samuel Watts, Joseph Watts and Garrett Gorseth. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Grandview Sunday School Class.
