Obituary for Menzil Helms

Menzil Rudolph Helms, 83, a resident of Dothan, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, October 24, 2022 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn S. Nesbitt officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 2:15 on Friday prior to service time. Graveside services will be held at Pea River Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clio, Alabama at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to “In Christ Name Ministry” at First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mr. Helms was born September 16, 1939 in Blue Springs, Alabama to James Carlos and Anne Mae Moats Helms. He grew up in Louisville and was a 1959 graduate of Louisville High School. He was employed with Sears as a service technician for 33 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Helms really enjoyed mowing his yard and fishing. Mr. Helms was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Jim Helms and Larry Helms and a sister, Annette Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Parks Helms of Dothan; a son, Steven Rudolph Helms (Lisa) of Dothan; a daughter, Catherine Hardin (Phil) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two granddaughters, Kaytlan Helms and Samantha Helms Johnson (Tanner), all of Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
