Obituary for Ralph Douglas “Buddy” Bell

Ralph Douglas “Buddy” Bell, a resident of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Southeast Health. He was 79.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Mt. Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Rickey Plummer officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, 1600 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, GA 30329, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P O Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675. There will be no public visitation.

Mr. Bell was born on September 2, 1941, in Dothan the son of Ralph Lee Bell and Maudean Henderson Bell. He served as a Free Will Baptist minister for 25 years in Tennessee and the Wiregrass area. He was an independent operator in the bleacher industry having owned and operated B & L Maintenance for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Bell served in the National Guard as a Chaplain and was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Sherry Reardon Bell, Rehobeth; two daughters, Robin Bell, Ashford, Alycia Bell Mathis (Sidney), Dothan; two sons, Doug Bell, Ashford; Brad Bell (Crystal), Dothan; three stepsons, Brad Tucker (Jennifer), Rehobeth; Brock Tucker, Rehobeth; Brian Tucker (Christine Herring), Dothan; sister, Emma Jean Mallory (Lewis), Ashford; 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; a special lifelong friend, Charles Jordan, Dothan.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
