Obituary for Sarah Pearl Hartley (Cobia)

Sarah Pearl Cobia Hartley, 91, of Dothan, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Dothan City Cemetery with her brother, Rodger Allen Cobia officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 on Tuesday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Honeysuckle Church of Christ, 986 Honeysuckle Rd., Dothan, AL, 36305.

Mrs. Hartley was born February 15, 1929 in Kinsey to Ollie and Pearlie Mae Cobia. She lived her early years in Albany, Georgia and Birmingham before moving back to Dothan. In 1957, she graduated from Dothan High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She later worked with the Boy Scout office, Coca-Cola and Blumberg’s Department Store. She was employed with the Dothan City School System for many years as a clerk in the library, guidance office and various other capacities before retiring in 1991 at the age of 75. Mrs. Hartley was a member of Honeysuckle Road Church of Christ.

She is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Arthur Joe Cobia and Orbis Wayne Cobia.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Diane Crawford of Dothan; a brother, Rodger Cobia (Nancy) of Wetumpka; two sisters, Betty Swindle and Margie Nell Tubful, both of Lenore City, TN; three grandchildren, Cynthia Dawn Popwell, Wayne Allen Decker (Paula) and Christopher Wade Decker (Brandi), all of Dothan; six great-grandchildren, Shelby Popwell, Hannah Popwell, Kasey Decker, Bailey Decker, Bryson Decker and Madison Decker; several nieces and nephews.
