Obituary for Verna Peggy Easterwood
Verna Peggy Easterwood, a resident of Ashford, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bluff Springs Baptist Church “Building Fund”, 1990 Bluff Springs Road, Ashford, AL, 36312.
Mrs. Easterwood was born September 14, 1938 in Houston County to James Vernon and Cora Belle Forrester Dodson. She was a 1956 graduate of Ashford High School. After graduation, she married Lewis Easterwood, a union that lasted over 63 years. She was a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Mrs. Easterwood was a lifelong member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church.
She is predeceased by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lewis Easterwood of Ashford; three sons, Larry Easterwood (Cindy) of Dothan, Chris Easterwood (Diane) of Macon, Georgia and Eric Easterwood (Lyteasa) of Ashford; a brother, Walter James Dodson (Helen) of Ashford; a sister, Virginia Stewart (Jim) of Ashford; eight grandchildren, Heather, Brittney, Landon, Logan, Colby, Kaitey, B.J. and Matthew; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Active pallbearers will be: Matthew Ryals, B.J. Ryals, Landon Easterwood, Colby Easterwood and Logan Easterwood.
