Obituary for Virginia Shaw Conrad
Virginia Shaw Conrad, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Ozark Health and Rehab Center. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Glover Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Bacher officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday and from 12 noon until 12:45 on Saturday prior to service time. Social distancing guidelines will be observed. At other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Elaine Walker, 126 Brockton Court, Dothan, AL 36305.
Mrs. Conrad was born October 4, 1931 in Anderson County, South Carolina to Roy and Maude Littles Shaw and lived most of her life in Houston County. She was employed with Maxwell Cleaners, Hazel Hurst Cleaners and several other laundromats during her working career. She also hauled and sold burlap oyster sacks for many years. Mrs. Conrad was of the Baptist faith.
She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Maude Shaw; her spouse, Pert Conrad; her son, Sidney Spearman; two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann Emfinger and husband, Gene of Cowarts and Elaine Walker and her fiancé, Art Lewis of Dothan; seven grandchildren, Sid Spearman (Devin), Sherry Hudson (Bobby), Randall Scarbrough (Rose), Amanda Hugaboon (Josh), Sara Hudson (Billy), Jeffrey Walker (Angela) and Terry Walker; seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers will be Art Lewis, Jeffrey Walker, Kevin Allen, Bobby Vymislicky, Brandon Hudson and Trey Hullett.
