Obituary for William Glenn Jones

William “Glenn” Jones, 63, a resident of Webb, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at his residence.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery (Kinsey) with Pastor Troy West officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to service time.

Mr. Jones was born November 28, 1959 in Dothan to William Edgar and Vallie Sue Glover Jones and lived all of his life in Houston County. He was a 1978 graduate of Houston County High School and later attended Wallace Community College where he received his associate’s degree in criminal justice. He was employed with the Houston County Jail for twenty years, retiring in 2022 as Lieutenant. In earlier years, he worked with Tallent’s Auto Salvage for fifteen years.

Mr. Jones enjoyed fishing, especially bass fishing. In earlier years, he played baseball and coached his sons in Little League baseball. Go Braves! He also enjoyed football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. Roll Tide! He was a member of Webb Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He is predeceased by his father, William E. Jones.

Survivors include his mother, Vallie “Sue” Jones of Webb; three sons, Forrest Aaron Jones of Ashburn, VA, Patrick Cleburne Jones of Dothan and Stuart Lee Jones of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Daryl Jones (Clarisa Ann) of Ozark and a nephew, Joseph “Wade” Jones (Jillian) of Oak Ridge, TN.
