Obituary for William Gregory Welch
Mr. William Gregory Welch, age 69, a resident of Dothan (formerly of Slocomb), died Saturday March 13, 2021 at the Southeast Health.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Slocomb City Cemetery with Minister David Pope officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 5 pm until 7 p.m. at Glover Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Slocomb Church of Christ, P.O. Box 12, Slocomb, AL 36375.
Mr. Welch was born on January 4, 1952 in Dothan the son of William Estell Welch and Sarah Alice Kelley Welch. Greg grew up in Slocomb where he was a 1970 Graduate of Slocomb High School and later graduated Wallace Community College with a HVAC degree. He was retired from Sony Corporation after 30 years of service with the Maintenance Department. After retirement from Sony he worked for several years with Wallace Community College Maintenance Department. Greg was a member of the Slocomb Church of Christ where he served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years. He had his private pilot license for a number of years and enjoyed flying. Greg was a member of the Dothan Coin Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Welch Cherry; two brothers, Freddie and Wayne Welch.
Survivors include his two sons, Chad Welch (Sabrina), Midland City and Brandon Welch (Emily), Slocomb; 3 grandchildren, Clay, Annsley Kate, Lyric; several nieces and nephews; Shannon Welch, Kristina (Alex) Corbin, Kinsley Corbin, Sierra Kirkland, Picca and Copper.
