Obituary for Willie Mae Cureton

Willie Mae Cureton, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Montgomery, died Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Southeast Health. She was 72.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Taylor Rutland officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wiregrass Humane Society, P O Box 1045, Dothan, AL, 36302.
Willie was born in Campbellton, Florida the eighth child of C.C. and Edna Boatwright Cureton. She was raised in Malone and Marianna until 1955 when the family moved to Dothan, Alabama. Willie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in nursing homes and in private homes for over 30 years. She lived and worked in Montgomery and was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church since 1983. Willie enjoyed singing in the choir, drawing and writing. She moved back to Dothan in August of 2016 and lived with her sister Mary.
Willie is predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Alexander Russell Cureton, Johnny Mack Cureton and Bobby Cureton.
Willie is survived by her daughter, Amanda Jackson and five grandchildren, all of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by five sisters, Ginny Manwaring of Pensacola, FL, Margaret Ann Smith, Mary Dickson and Rose Cureton Hughes, all of Dothan, AL and Janis Cureton of Bakersville, CA; two brothers, C. Earl Cureton of Panama City, FL and Jim Cureton of Naples, FL.
