Ms. Marjorie Elaine “Bootsie” Griffis Johnson, age 63, a resident of Ashford, died Friday January 2, 2015 at the SAMC following a brief illness.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday January 5, 2015 at the New Beginning Church in Ashford with Pastor Stan Usry officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to the New Beginning Church, 1240 Co. Rd. 55 North, Ashford, AL. 36312.

Ms. Johnson was born on February 2, 1951 in Plant City, Florida (a longtime resident of Sebring, Fl.) the daughter of Earl Griffis and Martina Lee Williams Griffis. She moved to Houston County in 2006 from Cuthbert, Ga. Ms. Johnson worked as a cashier with Exprez it in Webb and various other stores over the years. She was a member of the New Beginning Church in Ashford.

She was preceded in death by her father; 2 brothers, Ivan Simmons & Ordie Griffis.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Eugenia Ingram (Brad), Kinsey; Paula Barnes, Ashford; son, Billy Hill (Jerri), Okeechobee, Fl.; 4 sisters, Mary Elkins, St. Augustine, Fl.; Eugenia Brooks, Savannah, Ga.; Catherine Estes, Sebring, Fl.; Sandra Ann Dunn, N.C.; 3 brothers, Billy Ennis, Ft. Myers, Fl.; Gerald Simmons, Arcadia, Fl.; David Earl Ennis, Ft. Myers, Fl.; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
